43rd President of the United States, Republican. January 20, 2001 – January 20, 2009.  Born: July 6, 1946, New Haven, Connecticut.  46th Governor of Texas, 1995-2000.  Early into President Bush’s first term the United States was attacked by Muslim terrorists.  The September 11, 2001 attacks included two airliners flying into the World Trade Center towers (and a resulting collapse of the towers), an airliner striking the Pentagon, and an airliner crashing into the ground in a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania when patriots on board fought back against the hijackers.  Subsequently, President Bush announced a War on Terror.  George W. Bush is only the second president in American History to assume the Office of President of the United States after his father, following the footsteps of John Adams and his son, John Quincy Adams.
