Nixon, Richard

37th President of the United States, Republican.  In Office: January 20, 1969 – August 9, 1974.  Born: January 9, 1913.  Died: April 22, 1994.  President Nixon ended American involvement in the Vietnam War in 1973.  Nixon’s visit to China in 1972 led to diplomatic relations with the communist country.  The moon landing of Apollo 11 occurred during Nixon’s presidency on July 20, 1969.  Neil Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface.  After the escalation of the Watergate Scandal, Nixon resigned August 9, 1974 in the face of a certain impeachment.
