Elbridge Gerry, Signer of the Declaration of Independence and Governor of Massachusetts, decided that something had to be done to keep him and his party in office in the Bay State. Massachusetts was deep in Alexander Hamilton’s Federalist Party territory, and the Jeffersonian Republicans wanted desperately to hold on to the little power they had in New England. So, they redrew the state senate districts in a way that sliced up Essex County, a Federalist stronghold, like a Thanksgiving goose.
One of those districts was so grotesquely shaped that a newspaper editor said it looked like a salamander – ultimately calling it a Gerry-mander (starts with a hard “g”, not the j sound).
Elbridge Gerry didn’t invent the practice of manipulating districts for political gain, but he sure gave it a name. Now, gerrymandering has become a political art form, and while the Democrats seem to usually be the ones who are guilty, both sides are guilty of using the age-old strategy. As a result we’ve seen the emergence of redistricting commissions, court battles, and the latest situation in Texas where the Republicans have called for redrawing the lines to undo the gerrymandering damage by the Democrats, and in response the Party of the Donkey has screamed that the GOP is guilty of gerrymandering, and then fled to make sure a vote regarding gerrymandering in the Lone Star State could not take place – fleeing to blue states extremely guilty of their own gerrymandering schemes.
While the Democrats love to scream about “voter suppression,” they’ve been gerrymandering places like Illinois, California, New York and Massachusetts (to name a few) for decades – and whenever the Republicans try to correct the situation they yell that the GOP is trying to rewrite the rules and that the conservative political folks don’t believe in “equity” and “fairness.” Nevermind rigging the elections with a refusal to allow for voter ID laws, refusal to clean up the voter rolls, and making sure illegal aliens are unconstitutionally counted in the census for the purpose of making sure the Democrats have more seats in blue states (and some red states) through apportionment (and gerrymandering).
So, as the Republicans in Texas try to undo years of Democratic Party engineered gerrymandering madness, with a plan to redraw the congressional map to better reflect reality, not fantasy, the Democrats fled the State of Texas like cowards. They hopped on expensive private jets, holed up in blue-state five-star hotels, and refused to show up for the vote.
Wait. It’s a part-time legislature in Texas. Where did they get the money for their luxurious exit?
The great flee of the Democrat legislators was funded by the George Soros backed Beto O’Rourke PAC, known as Powered by People. That’s right. According to reports, a Soros funded lefty PAC covered travel, lodging, meals and even the fines these Democrats face for skipping out on their constitutional duties.
They claim they’re trying to “save democracy,” but they are accomplices in a Soros-funded insurrection against our Constitutional Republic. And let’s be clear, the Democrats are not defending voting rights as they claim – they’re defending their own power. Their political position of power. And they’re doing it with outside money, media cover, and zero accountability.
So as they falsely accuse the Republicans of gerrymandering, the very party trying to restore balance to a map that’s been rigged for years, they are playing their usual projection game – and Swamp-backed game of deception – the same plays in the Democratic Party playbook that they’ve always used, and once again are willing to throw it out there in full display for all to see because they believe in their arrogance they are untouchable.
I seem to remember the Democrats saying that elections matter. So does constitutional fidelity. The leftist Democrats, socialist, and commies can’t win at the ballot box, so they flee the State, rewrite the rules, and then claim that is justice.
Fortunately, the GOP in Texas is fighting back, and Attorney General Ken Paxton is investigating the fact that a private organization is giving gifts to the fleeing Democrats so that they can avoid the vote, abandon their posts, and sabotage the legislative process. The FBI’s Kash Patel has also been contacted with the hope they can use the Federal Government to retrieve the anti-American Democrats since the long arm of the law from Governor Abbot’s gubernatorial office only reaches to the state lines of Texas.
I remember when I was a candidate for office. The record keeping regarding incoming money and donations was strictly enforced. Americans do not tolerate outside influence. In fact, it’s criminal – and for receiving gifts to pay for their traveling antics, the Democrats who fled Texas should all be arrested, charged, convicted and removed from office for their bribery, corruption, and in short a Biden-style influence peddling move. Outside money is being spent to sabotage the legislative process in Texas. It’s illegal under Texas law, and federally.
Arrest the corrupt Democrats, replace them, and let’s get the Democratic Party gerrymandering monstrosity across the country erased as it should be – starting in Texas, and then ultimately across the country. Pam Bondi at the Department of Justice is already looking at tackling voter rolls, and working to enhance election integrity. Even the United States Supreme Court looks like it might get involved. California, Illinois and New York, be warned; the journey for legal constitutional elections is in the crosshairs, and you’re next.
