As an individual, I gave Chad Bianco (who is running for Riverside County Sheriff) my written endorsement during the primary season.  Most politicians hold off because sometimes you never know what will happen in the primary, and if you endorse the wrong person, it could get sticky.

California Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, the most conservative member of the California legislature (in my opinion) did exactly that, and waited until the dust of the primary election settled.  Then, once the race was down to two, she made her decision . . . and the endorsement did not go to incumbent Sheriff, Stan Sniff.

MAJOR ENDORSEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez Endorses Lt. Chad Bianco for Sheriff

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Today Lt. Chad Bianco announced the endorsement of Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez in his campaign to be Sheriff of Riverside County. Assemblywoman Melendez represents the 67th Assembly District which is entirely nested within Riverside County. As a six-year Republican Assemblymember incumbent, her past includes serving in the United States Navy for 10 years during the Cold War and completing multiple tours as a Russian translator.

“I am honored to endorse Chad Bianco for Riverside County Sheriff.  He has a vision for leading our Sheriff’s Department into the future that includes protecting your 2nd Amendment rights, managing your tax dollars more efficiently, and putting your safety first,” said Assemblywoman Melendez. “Chad Bianco has a long track record of going well beyond the bare minimum in his service to our community, which is why he is the only candidate I trust to lead our Sheriff’s Department especially at a time when our Deputies are in desperate need and deserving of new leadership.”

Chad came in first in the June Primary Election, collecting more votes than the current County Sheriff. He has served for 25 years in the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and has worked almost every level within the Department.
