Benjamin Franklin called attention to the influence of Divine Providence when he recommended prayer before each session of the Constitutional Convention, and in a battle during the French and Indian War then Colonel George Washington recognized that he had four bullet holes in his jacket during a battle where officers were being targeted, but his body was never hit.
