A lone gunman charged into the lobby leading to the ballroom where the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner was being held, likely wishing to commit a massacre, as well as an assassination of President Donald Trump. The California man was quickly subdued after shooting one Secret Service agent at close range. The gunman survived, and is in custody of the FBI.
Guests inside the ballroom dove under tables as security teams went into action. At least six shots were fired during the incident. The suspect charged at a full run toward the ballroom but was stopped at one of the security checkpoints.
President Trump said that the event will be resumed. He refuses to let this kind of threat to stop these kinds of events. President Trump says the event will be re-scheduled sometime in the next thirty days. President Trump celebrated the “unified” moment between all of the members of the press and White House in the room, regardless of political ideology.
P.S. – Remember, the Secret Service hasn’t been paid thanks to the partial shutdown, but they are still on the job…
