There will be a time in the future, perhaps the near future – perhaps TODAY – that this message will be an important encouragement for those fighting tyranny. I am working on a fictional book about the near future, and this message from the past launches the adventure:
There was a time when America was free.
Not perfect, not unbroken, but free. Free in the way a man breathes without asking permission, speaks without rehearsing fear, worships without surveillance, and thinks without waiting for a signal from a machine.
I write this knowing I will never meet you. I write this because I fear you may never know what was lost.
There was a time when the government answered to the people, not to algorithms. When laws were debated by flesh‑and‑blood representatives, not generated by predictive models. When rights were understood to be yours by birth, not privileges granted by a system that measures your compliance.
We once believed that liberty was the natural state of mankind. We once believed that power must be restrained, or it will devour the world. We once believed that the Constitution was not merely parchment, but a covenant. A boundary drawn around government so that the individual could remain sovereign. A cage for a potential predator called tyranny that seeks to devour.
If you are reading this, then that covenant has been broken.
Maybe you already sense it. Maybe you feel the quiet pressure around your life. The nudges, the restrictions, the permissions that masquerade as conveniences. Maybe you’ve learned to silence your own thoughts before the system does it for you. Maybe you’ve grown accustomed to being managed.
If so, hear me clearly:
You were not meant to live this way.
A free people do not exist to serve a system. A free people do not surrender their judgment to machines. A free people do not trade their birthright for safety, efficiency, or the illusion of order.
The collapse that is coming, whether tomorrow or in your lifetime, will not be the direct fault of those experiencing it. It will be the inevitable consequence of forgetting who we were.
When the storm arrives, you will be told to obey. You will be told resistance is pointless. You will be happy, and own nothing.
You will be told the system is inevitable.
It is not.
The future belongs to those who remember the past. And the past is speaking to you now.
You may feel alone. You may feel small. You may feel powerless under the weight of a world run by machines and tyrants. But understand this: every great restoration began with one person who refused to bow.
If you choose to stand – truly stand – you will not be standing for yourself alone. You will be standing for every generation that once lived free, and every generation that deserves to live free again. You will be standing for the Blessings of Liberty for your generation, and your posterity.
I cannot tell you what to do. I cannot tell you how to fight. I cannot tell you what the world around you has become.
I can only tell you this:
Liberty is worth the risk. Freedom is worth the cost. And you, whoever you are, are not powerless.
If America is ever to rise again and be Great Again, it will begin with someone like you.
Do not let the memory die.
